President Jokowi Inspects The Construction of 300 Homestays in Mandalika

Ahead of the Mandalika MotoGP event that will be present next March, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ensured the construction of 300 homestays for tourist accommodation.

Jokowi believes the Mandalika Circuit which is the venue for various motor racing races can have an impact on the local economy. One of the impacts arising from the economic side is the emergence of homestays around the circuit.

"We also want Mandalika not only to be a matter of motor racing but also to have an economic effect, giving economic growth effects to the community," he said after visiting Gerupuk Village, NTB, Thursday, January 13, 2022.

Jokowi noted, there are currently a total of 300 homestays in Mandalika. The inn was prepared by the local and central governments.

"We hope that later when the motoGP is fully filled," he said.

If the homestay is full, Jokowi believes there will be an economic impact felt by the local community.

"I have checked one by one the homestays that have been done by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, and we will see in March, whether this is filled or not? I think it's all filled," Jokowi concluded.

Speaking of hotel room occupancy, Minister of Tourism Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that the hotel in Mandalika was 90% full. However, homestays to non-hotel accommodations can be an option.

"According to the Mataram Hotel Association, as of January 3, 2021, hotel rooms in Mataram have been ordered 90 percent for the purposes of MotoGP 2022 accommodation," Sandiaga told the media on Monday, January 10, 2022.

MotoGP Mandalika will be held on March 18-20, 2022 at Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit. This location is in the Special Economic Area (KEK) Mandalika, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
