Do These 3 Things When Your Baby Farts Often

It's only natural that babies often fart. Because, babies can indeed waste gas up to 13-20 times a day. It is more common in babies aged 2-3 months. To help him feel more comfortable, there are several ways you can do it.

Often farts are the result of the amount of gas or air ingested by the baby, for example when breastfeeding, sucking pacifiers, or when crying. This condition is actually normal and harmless, but can cause the baby discomfort due to bloating. There are several ways you can make her feel better.

Tips to Overcome Babies Often Fart

Babies who often fart due to swallowing a lot of air can also experience bloating. This will make him feel uncomfortable, and sometimes be fussy. To overcome this and make it feel better, you can do the following ways:

Help your baby burp

Burping makes the gas in the body less. The best way to help your baby burp is to rub or pat him or her back gently. Do this while holding it on your shoulders or laying it on your lap. If you do not burp, lay the nayi in a supine position for a few minutes, then repeat the step.

Make sure the baby is in the right position

Make sure the position of the baby's head is higher than his stomach when he suckles, either directly from the nipple or from the milk bottle. Use your hands or pillows to support them. Also make sure the position of the bottle is tilted upwards so that no air is trapped in the pacifier.

The correct breastfeeding position makes milk easier to get down to the stomach and accidentally swallowed air can come out. It will also make it easier for the baby to burp.

Gentle massage

Lay the baby on the mattress with his back position, massage his stomach gently, then move his legs like a cycling movement. If necessary, bathe the baby with warm water. These steps can make it easier for the baby to remove excess air from his digestive tract.

Babies often fart is generally not a dangerous condition. But you still need to be vigilant, because sometimes this condition also indicates a health problem, especially when accompanied by the following symptoms:

  • Fever. Immediately consult your baby to the doctor if his body temperature reaches 38° Celsius or more, especially if he is under three months old.
  • Very fussy and hard to soothe.
  • Appears in pain or has colic.
  • No bowel movements, vomiting, or stool accompanied by blood.

These symptoms can indicate that the baby often farts due to indigestion. So if you see your baby experiencing it, immediately take him or her to the pediatrician for a check-up.
